OUR HISTORY

Main Street LIVE is located in the historic town of Trinidad in southern Colorado in “The Famous” department store building constructed in the early 1900s. The theatre was founded in 2002 by Harriet and Fred Vaugeois as the Southern Colorado Repertory theatre (SCRT). SCRT grew over the course of 17 years to offer professional summer repertory productions, year-round community theatre, youth productions and summer camps for youth.

With the convergence of the retirement of the founders at the end of 2019, financial uncertainty looming, and the arrival of Covid-19 in early 2020, the Board of Directors began to focus on reorganizing and rebuilding the organization.

Throughout 2020 the Board of Directors met to envision, discuss, and plan a new direction that would survive and thrive when doors could re-open. In 2021 a new vision, mission, and goals emerged and, ultimately, a new name to clearly represent those new goals - "Main Street LIVE".
